Our studio, and the manufacturing unit behind it, sit in Sector 82, Mohali. Most of the homes and offices we design are within driving distance — across Chandigarh, Panchkula, Zirakpur, New Chandigarh, Kharar and out towards Yamunanagar — close enough that we can walk a site in the morning and be back at the workshop by lunch. For a good number of the people who want to work with us, though, that proximity is exactly the thing they do not have.
They are living in Dubai or Toronto and doing up a flat back home. They are posted in another city and furnishing their first apartment here. Or they are simply too stretched for the weekly rhythm a full project asks of them. For all of them we offer E-Design — our complete design service, delivered remotely, so that distance stops being the reason a space never gets designed properly.
What E-Design actually is
E-Design is the thinking half of our studio, packaged to travel. You do not need to visit us in Mohali, and we do not need to visit your site. Working from your measurements, your photographs and a series of video calls, we produce the full design for your space — the same design intelligence that goes into our in-person projects, delivered as a set of files you can open from anywhere in the world.
What it is not is a mood board and a wish. It is a resolved, buildable design: measured layouts, a considered material and colour palette, photoreal visuals of the finished rooms, and a clear guide that a local contractor or carpenter can price and build from. The difference from a full project is simply who holds the trowel. We design; you, or a team near you, execute.
Who the service suits
The service was built around three kinds of client, and it tends to serve them well.
NRIs come to us most often. Designing a home in Mohali or Chandigarh from another country usually means leaning on relatives, long-distance phone calls and a great deal of hope. E-Design gives you a studio that understands the ground even while you are far from it — one that knows local materials, local trades and how rooms here are actually lived in.
Outstation clients are the second group: people who have bought a property in the region but live and work elsewhere in India, and cannot give a project the site visits it would otherwise need.
The third kind is closer to home — people in the region who are perfectly able to manage their own execution, often with a contractor they already trust, and who want a proper design to hand that team rather than leaving it to improvise.
What an E-Design package includes
An E-Design package is a complete, self-contained design. It typically brings together:
- Measured layouts and furniture plans, worked out from the dimensions you provide, so every piece has a place before anything is bought
- A concept direction — the palette, the mood, the materials and the finishes — presented clearly enough to approve with confidence
- Photoreal 3D visualisations of the main spaces, so you see the rooms before they exist rather than piecing them together from a plan
- A specification and shopping guide — the fittings, finishes and quantities, described so that you or your contractor can source and order them locally
- An execution guide your on-site team can build to, with the detailing that keeps the finished rooms faithful to what you approved
Running through all of it are video consultations and rounds of revision, so the design is refined with you rather than simply handed to you.
How it differs from full turnkey
This is the honest heart of the matter. Our turnkey work carries a project from the first concept to a styled handover under one roof — our own architecture, civil and engineering teams, our own factory making the kitchens, wardrobes and furniture, and one point of contact accountable for the result. Nothing is outsourced, and nothing is lost between the drawing and the site. If you are weighing the two routes, our note on turnkey versus managing a project piece by piece sets out the trade-offs.
E-Design deliberately stops at the design. We give you a build-ready scheme; the building itself is coordinated by you or a local team. That means we are not on your site, not supervising your trades, and not holding your timeline or your finish quality the way we do on a turnkey job. In exchange, you get our full design thinking wherever you happen to be, and the freedom to execute at your own pace.
How we collaborate remotely
Good remote design depends on good inputs, and the first of those is accurate information about your space. We will guide you through measuring each room, or ask your contractor or a local surveyor to send dimensions, along with photographs and video of every wall, window, beam and switchboard. The more honestly a space is captured, the more faithful the design can be.
From there the rhythm is a series of video calls — to understand how you live, to present the concept, to walk you through the visuals, and to refine. Drawings, boards and renders travel by email or a shared folder, so you are always reviewing the same files we are working from. Time zones are rarely a real obstacle; we simply agree a window that works as easily for Dubai or Toronto as it does for Mohali.
What remote can and cannot cover
Honesty serves you better here than a sales pitch, so plainly: remote design does a great deal, but it does not do everything.
It covers layout, material and colour direction, visualisation and a build-ready specification well. What it cannot do is physical site supervision — nobody from our studio is checking a level, opening a false ceiling, or catching a contractor's quiet substitution in person. It cannot guarantee the execution, because the trades are not ours. And it leans on the quality of the measurements you provide and the skill of your local team; a good design placed in careless hands is still at the mercy of those hands.
Where a project genuinely needs our hands as well as our heads, turnkey is the better fit — and for clients in and around Mohali, that is usually what we would suggest. E-Design is for when distance, time or your own preference puts the execution with someone else.
Designing your space from wherever you are
Since 2022, our three founders have built the practice on carrying a design all the way to a finished room. E-Design is how we extend the first, most important half of that to people we cannot stand beside — NRIs, outstation owners, and anyone who would rather hold the reins on site themselves. It is the same studio that works as interior designers in Mohali and across the wider Chandigarh region, writing for a wall it may never touch. You can see the kind of spaces the thinking produces across our work, including homes we have visualised in full before anything was built.
If you are designing a home here from somewhere else, tell us about the space and where in the world you are, and we will say honestly whether E-Design or a visit-based project suits you better. When you are ready, get in touch — wherever you happen to be reading this.
